Baar has decided to end this blog and start a new one. Him's new blog will have more posts from him's friends and family and will include some general pictures and writings. Baar had decided that sharing him's blog with his family is the right thing to do. But do not worry, Baar will still do lots of entries!

While You Are At Work

Hello! It is I, Baar. Baar thought you would like to see what him does while him's people are at work. Nooooo do not worry - Baar is still guarding the house and the kitties. Him does get up and bark when anyone comes over! Even if the first bark does sound a little sleepy him is very ferocious!

Lorain County Park

Hello! It is I Baar.

Baar wants to say sorry to him's blog friends for being so quiet. Baar has good news but him has been keeping it to himself for a while - Baar is no longer a SAFE dog! Baar has been adopted by Emily and Joe. Baar is not sure if him will keep up with this blog or start a new one so that him's friends can still read about Baar. Baar can not decide.... him was going to wait to announce it until him made a decision but it is taking Baar too long.

Baar loves the comments him's blog friends Heidi, Regina, Roxy, Buster and Felix left him lately. Yesssss it is fun to get comments. Baar is glad you asked about Brutus Heidi.

Brutus decided that him wanted to live with Mikki most of the time. Him said that Baar is annoying because him is so busy. Nooooo, Baar is not annoying.... But do not worry, Brutus still comes to visit and have sleepovers. Last weekend Baar, Brutus, Emily and Joe went to a nature preserve in Lorain County. It was hot but Baar had lots of fun.

To the right is a picture of Brutus checking things out. Brutus got hot and tired and we couldn't walk the whole way. Baar thinks Emily got hot and tired to!

Baar liked walking in the field. There were lots of green jumpy things called gasshoppers. Baar liked them and went ahead to watch them all jump off the path. Baar also found a naughty fly and hunted it down. Baar hates fly's! They are not nice. A big bug flew at Emily and hit her face. But she did not try to bite it like Baar! Instead she yelped. Baar does not understand Emily some times. She is silly.

After our time at the park we got to go to have ice cream at a place called coldstone. Baar and Brutus both had sweet cream kids cups. Brutus ate him's fast but Baar took lots of time. Some of Brutus' fell on the ground and him laid down on it. Silly Brutus! Here are pictures of Brutus and Baar after we finished our tasty treats. Coldstone made us feel happy.

Carvel Canine Canal Walk

Hello! It is I, Baar.

Last weekend Baar got to go on a walk with him's Katrina friend Roxanne. Baar does not know if him's friends know about her. Roxanne was rescued from New Orleans after Katrina by Melanie, Vince, and Laura. Roxanne was sad and scared. She told Baar that it was very scary to be stuck in a house all alone with the storm and that she ran out of things to eat and drink. Baar is glad that him didn't get stuck in a storm like that. To make things worse, Roxanne's family could not take her back. She was sad. Then she met Melanie and Vince and they decided to make her part of their family. That made Roxanne very happy but she still didn't like it when anyone got near her water. Roxanne doesn't mind as much now but everyone has to leave her rawhides alone!

Anyway, Baar and Roxanne wanted to help doggies that come to the cuyahoga county Animal Shelter and need medical help. Carvel Ice Cream (www.carvel.com Independence Branch) also wanted to help doggies in need so they set up this dog walk. All the proceeds benefit Dick Goddard Best Friends Medical Relief Fund. Baar and Roxeanne hope that all of there blog friends will also support causes that help animals in need.

Emily and Joe came with Baar and Melanie came with Roxanne. It was a rainey day but we took the walk anyway. It rained very hard but Baar and Roxanne had lots of fun anyway! We got ice cream from Carvel. Baar did not like his bone sprinkles so Roxanne ate them for him. Roxanne is a good friend! Here is a picture of Baar and Roxanne with Melanie and Joe.

Great Lakes Medieval Faire

Hello! It is I, Baar. Baar got to go to a Medieval Festival! It was so much fun. Baar went with Emily, Joe, and Emily's mom and dad. The picture to the right is of us getting ready to watch one of the shows. The show was a play done with people falling into a mud pit. The people that it was funny but Baar did not. They were hitting each other with long pointy things! Baar does not like violence - him's tail went down and he tried to go help the people fighting. Emily and Joe told him it was just pretend and gave him pets. Baar felt better but was still a little concerned.

Baar also saw a show with a very strange being made from bones called Dead Bob. Baar would have liked to play with Dead Bob and was thinking of "borrowing" a leg. Here is a picture of the little bony talking thing. The people laughed a lot and thought Dead Bob was very fascinating even though him mostly just talked. Baar was distracted by a big grey creature called an elephant. Baar wanted to go visit the elephant but Emily and Joe said no. Baar spent most of the show watching the elephant rather then Dead Bob. People pick strange things to be interested in!

Baar was very popular at the faire. Emily and Joe were surprised and kept telling Baar how good him was. One of Baar's new friends even gave him some turkey to eat! There were other doggies there too. Baar got to visit with them a little bit but not for very long. It was not like the park. Baar got so much attention that him got a little tired. Here is a sleepy Baar taking a break from him's public. Baar does look hansome in him's spider man bandana.

Mikki was supposed to come to but it was too hot for her. Baar hopes she will come next year. Here is a picture of Emily's mom and dad. Emily made the crown her mom is wearing. Emily is so clever but Baar is not sure him likes her plan to make him a costume for next year. Baar will have to think about that some more.

Baar also got to see a show of a person that puts hot buring in his mouth. He was called a fire eater. Here is a picture of him with BBQ Barbie. Baar does not really understand why people would like to do that or why other people would like to watch. But the people all had so much fun that Baar would recommend the Great Lakes Medieval Festival (http://www.medievalfaire.com/) to any of him's blog friends.

Baar had so much fun that him was very tired by the time him got back to the car. Here is one last picture of Baar on the way home.

Basset Birthday Party

Hello! It is I, Baar. Baar went with him's basset friends Emily, Boggie and Edison to the Basset Birthday party a couple of weeks ago. Codie came to. Him and Baar are not Basset Hounds but we still got to go. Baar had so much fun! There were so many Bassets and some of them even liked Baar!

The party was at the Mutt Hut, a doggy day care. If you would like to see what it is like, their website is http://www.themutthutt.com/. Baar liked it there. It was hot but there were so many different dogs! Baar was so excited him didn't end up playing with any dogs. Baar just walked around and visited!

Baar even got a present when it was time to go home! Him got a bark bar (doggy candy bar) that him gave to Brutus, Pup Corn (doggy pop corn) that him gave to Mikki, and a great bit piece of doggy bacon that Baar ate all by himself! Oh, it was so yummy. Yesssss Baar kept the big piece of bacon all for Baar.

Baar forgot to remind Emily to bring the camera so him does not have pictures. I know, it is very sad. But to cheer him's blog friends up, Baar is posting some pictures of Emily, Edison, and Boggy taken at the dog park.

More Max

Max asked Baar if him would do Max a special favor and help convince him's mommy or him's friend Judy to bring Max for another play date. Yesssss Baar is a very good friend so him is posting some more Max pictures.

Max - A New Friend

Baar is so excited to tell you that him met a new friend over the weekend! Baar's human friend Judy brought Max to play with Baar in the park.

Max has got lots of energy - maybe even more then Baar! We had so much fun running around at the park. This was Max's first trip. Sometime Max was not a gentleman but sometimes Baar is not either. When the other dogs told Max no, him stopped. The humans thought Max did great and so did Baar.

Max made lots of friends at the park. Here is him wresteling with a boxer. Baar is playing to. See what a good host Baar is?


Max loves to wrestle. Him is good at it. Noooo him not better at it then Baar though!

Baar loves playing with dogs that run fast. It is so much fun! Baar hopes that Max's mommy Allison or him's friend Judy will make it so Baar can have more play dates with Max! Baar is posting one more picture of Max running because him has fun floppy ears!

The Boys

Hello! It is I, Baar. Baar would like all of him's blog friends to know that Baar and Brutus are becoming better friends. We follow Joe and Emily around together all the time. If one of us goes to see what they are doing the other one has to come to.
Joe said that we are like little kids because every time one of us has something the other one wants one to. Last night Baar was playing with him's pink bunny so Brutus wanted a stuffed animal to. When Brutus got to go outside to smoke with Joe, Baar had to go to (even though Baar often stays inside).

Baar is sleeping so well now that him has another dog there that the other day him did not wake up until Emily opened the door! In Baar's defense, Emily stopped home during the day so Baar was not expecting her. Baar wishes Emily would come home early every day. Yes, and then we could go to the dog park. Yes, just Baar and Emily and Joe at the dog park.

Brutus is still grumpy sometimes. Baar knows that Brutus wants pink bunny to be his best friend. But no, pink bunny loves Baar (ha ha Brutus).

Brutus Arrives

Hello! It is I, Baar. Brutus is a golden retriever that has come to stay with Baar, Joe, Emily and the kitties for a while. Baar was very excited to get a friend! But Baar will admit that him had in mind a corgie puppy... or maybe an akita, or a boxer, or a lab, a newfie (Miki), a basset hound, or one of Baar's friends from the dog park. Yes, they could come live with Baar!

But some missunderstanding must have taken place because the friend Baar got is a grumpy 11 year old Golden Retriever. Of course Baar likes Golden Retrievers but Brutus... well Brutus does not want to play with Baar.

No, Baar does not know why either. Emily said that Brutus has something called arthritis which makes Brutus' back legs hurt. Sometimes Brutus can not even get up off the floor - a picture of Brutus stuck on the floor is to the right. Brutus was stuck on the floor this weekend - Baar is putting a picture to the right. Emily said that the ouchies make Brutus grumpy but that the vet is giving him some medicine to make him feel better. Baar is very glad about that. One time Baar fell up the stairs while running ahd hurt hims foot. Nooooo Baar does not like ouchies.

Baar has noticed that sometimes Brutus gets annoyed with Baar for not reason. Like the other day Baar was playing with pink bunny on the other side of the room and Brutus growled at him. But do not worry, Baar is nice to Brutus and Baar is not concerned about Brutus being grumpy. Baar just walks away if Brutus is in a bad mood. Ok, ok, there was that one time that Baar did not walk away but Baar is not perfect.

Baar has a feeling that there will be lots of stories about him and Brutus so stay tuned!

Another Kitten!

Hello! It is Baar. Baar is such a good friend to other animals. The other day, a tiny very sick kitten walk in front of Mikki's van. Mikki's dad stopped and Emily, Joe and Mikki's dad rescued the kitten. He was orange and white tiger striped (Baar is sorry - him did not take a picture). He was very very sick. The people said that he was starving and had no hydration. Poor kitty. But do not worry, Baar took care of the kitten on the way to the vet. Him sat in front of the carrier and cried. Baar made sure the kitten was not scared - him kept going down into play position to show him that they could be friends.

When we got to the vet Baar was nervous - Baar did not want to see the vet. But Baar was brave and went in with the kitten. The vet said that the kitten had to stay there and might not survive.

The next day Baar was able to go get the kitten! He was doing better. Mikki came to and Baar waited outside with her.

When we brought the kitten home, Baar was sad because the neighbor's decided to help the kitten and let him stay with them. Baar wants the kitten to have a good home, but him would prefer it would be with Baar.

Buster and Roxey were nice to the kitty which made Baar happy.

The people say that the kitten is doing well and that maybe they will keep him. If they do maybe Baar could visit! What's that Buster? Buster says it is his kitty now and Baar has to ask before visiting. It is so hard to be Baar....

Oh My Stars

Hello! It is I, Baar! Baar had a nice weekend, for the most part. Him got to go to the park twice and for nice car rides with Emily and Joe. Baar also went to Pretty Coat Junction in Lakewood for him's bath. Mikki came and while Baar was up on the table and him got so excited that him almost toppled the table! But do not worry, Emily and Joe and the great people at Pretty Coat Junction made sure that did not happen. Here is a picture of Mikki getting brushed. Mikki is so pretty.

Then, just when Baar thought he was all done, Emily and Joe wanted him to back into the grooming area! Oh no, Baar did not want to go. Him looked handsome already and was all done. Come onnnnnnn Baar does not want another brushing......

But Baar had to go back in - sometimes Emily and Joe can be very insistent. But Baar didn't have to be brushed. Him got to get ready for the 4th of July! Him's friends at Pretty Coat Junction came up with an idea to make him very festive. See Baar's wonderful stars!

It was still hard standing still but look how handsome! Baar is now ready to celebrate Independence Day! Baar is going to a picnic. Do not worry - Baar will post pictures!

Baby Baar had a Bad Dream

Hello. It is I, Baar. Baar had a rough night last night. Yessss Baar had nightmares :-( Baar was whimpering a little in him's sleep last night and woke Joe up. When Baar finally woke up, Baar howled a little and went to Joe and put him's head in Joe's lap. Baar is so glad that him made friends with Joe.

Baar fell back asleep and had woke up whimpering again. Him moved to the nightlight and fell back asleep. Yessss nightlights always make things better.

Baar would tell you what him's bad dreams were but now him does not remember. As you can see by him's picture, everything was all better when Baar woke up in the morning. Emily even took Baar for a special ride in the car to make up for his rough night.

Where or Where Did My Big Leash Go....

Hello! It is I, Baar. Baar can not find his big retractable leash. Him is so sad. Him has had to use the little leash which is not nearly as fun on walks. Plus Emily hurt her leg so Baar's walks have been shorter. If anyone finds Baar's leash, please let Baar know.

Do not worry, Baar is taking such good care of Emily since she got hurt. Here is a picture of Baar are playing with the ball in the backyard. Baar is such a fast runner!

Mikki's dadums was out of town so Mikki and Baar went for a walk the other day. It was so much fun. We walked in the metroparks. So many things to smell! Mikki and Emily do not walk as fast as Baar does but him is a gentleman and does not pull. Well Baar usually doesn't pull but once in a while him forgets! Then a different day, Mikki came over for a visit. It is sooo much fun playing with Mikki! She was wresteling with Baar. Here is a picture of Mikki at the park during one of our recent visits.

New Friends!

Baar has so much fun on Saturday. Him got to go to the Eastlake Doggie Park with him's friend Cody. Cody and Melanie met Emily, Baar and Joe at the park. Baar loves it when Cody and Melanie come to visit. Baar would have also like to see Boggy, Emily or Edison. Cody and Baar do not play very hard together but we do have fun hanging out (as long as Baar does not get too close to Cody's bed - Cody does not want Baar to lie on his bed). Here is a picture of Cody and Baar meeting some new friends at the park. Baar is under the picnic table. Baar is so clever! Cody is in front with his hansome bandana. Maybe Baar will wear one of him's bandana's next time.

One of the things that Baar liked about this dog park was the grass. It is a little smaller then the Lakewood dog park and Emily and Joe said that if it were wet it wouldn't have been as fun. Baar also liked that there were fun new dogs to play with!

One of the new friends Baar met was Mocha. Mocha and Baar played chase. Mocha runs so fast. Baar had lots of fun trying to chatch her. Joe even took a picture of Baar and Mocha running from the back. Silly Joe!
On the left is a picture of Cody running at the park. See how fast Cody runs? Yes, that is true, Baar is a faster runner but Cody looks very handsome running. All dogs can not be as fast as Baar!

Dog Park Fun

Hello! It is I, Baar. Baar has missed him's blogs friends. Baar is sorry him has been so quiet over the last week.
Baar has been busy playing at the dog park. Him's friend Otis was there the other day. Otis is so much fun. Otis and Baar love to wrestle. Even though Baar has not seen Otis in a month or so, Otis remember him right away and we started wresteling.

Baar hopes that Otis will come to the dog park more often when Baar is there so that we can play.

Farewell to a Friend

Baar is sad. One of Baar's friends has traveled on to what comes next.

Baar met him's human friend Ed while visiting Melanie, Emily and the gang. Ed was soooo nice to Baar. He gave Baar lots of cuddles and pets. Baar liked him so much that him ate a milkbone when Ed gave it to him (Baar does not ever eat milkbones). Even though Baar did not know Ed for long, Baar could see his kind and loving spirit. We animals can always see that.

Baar also feels very sad for him's doggy friends Cody, Bogy, Edison, and of course Emily, Baar feels feels even sadder for the people because Baar knows how hard they take it when it is time for what is inside to move on. Baar wants him's human friends to know that the energy and spirit of Ed has not gone away - him is just different now. Celebrate for Ed will never be far from those he loves.

Buster, the Dog Next Door

Hello! It is I, Baar. If Baar has not mentioned it before, Baar would like everyone to know that him lives next door to two other dogs.

Roxy, a little dog that Baar plays chase behind the fence with and Buster, a big dog like Baar.

Baar and Buster have never been able to play in person but on Friday night, Joe and

Baar and Buster's people took them for a walk together! It was lots of fun. Baar and Buster got to walk for a long time.

After our walk, Baar and Buster got to play together. It was so much fun. The people were careful though and only let us play on leash and were very careful about watching us. Baar does not know why. Joe said that it is because someday Buster might meet a girl dog and they would have puppies together. Baar does not know why Buster would want to do that. Baar likes little dogs and puppies to play with but him is not sure that it would be fun to have puppies around all the time. What if they tried to take bunny? Nooooo Baar thinks him will be the only baby for now. But puppies can come visit. Yesssss that is a good idea.

Baar hopes that Buster will be able to play with him again soon. Buster is a good friend. Until then Baar will see him from across the fence!

Special Visitor

Hello! It is I, Baar! Baar had a very special vistor this weekend. Another dog in the SAFE program came to spend the day! Baar is not going to mention the doggy's name and the picture has been edited to protect doggy's identity but Baar wanted to talk about the visit with him's blog friends a little.

Emily and Joe thought the doggy was very good. The doggy came when called (yes, Baar is aware that him sometimes still has a hard time with this but thank you for mentioning it Emily!) and walked very nicely on a leash. Baar got to take the doggy down for a walk in the park. The only tough part was that the doggy kept trying to mount Baar! Baar would tell the doggy no and then go into play position to tell doggy that Baar would like to play instead. But doggy did not want to play with Baar. Then doggy laid down on Baar's blankie! Yes, Baar blue blankie! Baar took doggy's busy bone though. Ha ha! Baar gets the last laugh! But Baar did not mind sharing with doggy - Baar can be a very good host.

While Baar is talking about being a good host, Baar would like to say sorry to him's new friend Vince. Baar is sorry him put his mouth on you when you went by him's food. Baar thought you wanted to eat Science Diet Sensitive Tummy. Baar will do better next time. And yes Melanie, Baar is sad that you do not feel well and hopes you feel better soon. Emily the most beautiful of all basset hounds said she would cuddle with you to make you feel better.

When it was time for doggy to go back, Baar got to go for a long ride in the car to drop the doggy off. Doggy even tried to mount Baar in the car! Goodness. Other then that part, Baar liked the ride a lot. The car is fun. But when we got there Emily and Joe went inside for what seemed like forever. That was sad. Baar cried a lot but then Emily and Joe came back and we went for another ride home.

Baar has such good times!

How Much Does a Baar Shed?

Hello! It is I, Baar here to answer a question that many people ask Emily and Joe. How much does Baar shed? The answer is a lot. Baar does not like to get brushed but even Baar has to admit that Baar is loosing a lot of fur quickly. Some of it is matting. Baar may have to rethink his attitude about brushing...

This weekend Baar went to Pretty Coat Junction in Lakewood for a bath. Baar does not like to go but it is not because of the people that work there. They are very nice and helpful and even let Emily and Joe use their table and tools for a self serve wash! Baar went on Saturday and Emily and Joe gave Baar the bath and then lots of people that work there helped them brush Baar and get rid of some of hims undercoat. Baar did not like it. Noooo him did not. It took a long time. Baar loves Emily but she is not very good at cutting fur. She cut out a big patch of Baar fur in the front. Silly Emily. Baar forgives her though. The picture to the right is of Baar getting brushed after him's bath.
