On Baar and Joe - Emily
I just wanted to take a moment to tell you all how amazing it's been to watch Baar's relationship with men change. When we first brought Baar home, he was extremely wary about Joe. I think the best way to describe his demeanor toward men in general is to say that Baar seemed guarded.
Over the past few months so much has changed.
Baar is now as attached to Joe as he is to me. Over the last few days I've noticed that when Joe goes upstairs Baar stands at the gate and waits for a few minutes hoping that Joe will return - just like he's always done with me! Ok ok at times I am a little jealous but my pleasure at Baar's development far outweighs that emotion.
Baar is now at a place where he looks forward to and solicits attention and affection from Joe. In fact Baar has Joe "trained" to pet him and cuddle him when he sits in front of Joe. It is so fun to watch how often Baar heads over for affection now. I have pretty much lost my defender though - if Joe approaches me quickly Baar has absolutely no concern for my safety.
The big question is has this carried over with other men. In general I think Baar is more at ease in the company of guys. He does seem to watch them a bit more carefully then women, and is less likely to be immediately affectionate, but I don't have the same concern that he will misinterpret an action and bite.
The other morning when I came downstairs I found that Baar had paid Joe a very high compliment indeed - Baar's beloved Bunny was lying next to him on the couch.
